Bio
My name is Daniele Napolitano (1990) I was born Rome, where I’m currently based in. In 2011, I attended a two-year course at the Scuola Romana di Fotografia, graduating from both the basic and the advanced course and specializing in reportage. My passion for reporting led me to work for 6 years with a Roman press agency, Omniroma, where I focused on local and national politics working in close contact with professionals in the field in a variety of contexts. Since then, I have pushed myself to gain experience in every sector, not only in reporting. I collaborated with Fidaf in 2013 following the Roman teams in the A2 series and published pictures of roman basketball team Virtus Roma the for the "Romanist". I have made several headshots and portfolios for actors and models, both in the studio and outdoors. I have worked as a photographer for theatrical performances, dance essays, conferences, birthday parties, weddings, baptisms and much more. While attending the Scuola Romana di Fotografia and during my collaboration with Omniroma, I attended the Faculty of Information and Communication Sciences and Technologies of the Sapienza University in Rome from where I graduated in 2015 with a 102/110 with a dissertation on the "Right to the City" with the Roman chair of sociology. During this period, I focused on sociological and anthropological studies trying to integrate what I had learned with my interest in reporting by working on the use of images in the construction of identity. Following this passion, I decided to participate in a training and information project on the Gaza Strip, which started in 2013 thanks to the Italian National Filmmakers and Videomakers Association and to Vik, the centre of cultural exchange between Italy and Gaza, which allowed me to teach photo and video journalism courses four times in Palestine, three in Gaza and one in the West Bank. The project is still active today. In 2013 I attended a basic videomaking course with Valerio Nicolosi, head of training for the Italian National Filmmakers and Videomakers Association, after which I started working with as a videomaker, both as his assistant and independently. In the same year, I joined the National Association of Italian Filmmakers and Videomakers, a trade association which allowed me to learn directly from industry professionals. I worked as an assistant on several sets, I took part in the 2015 edition of the “48ore Film Festival” and I shot several small documentaries autonomously. In October 2015, I taught the five months basic course of the National Association of Italian Filmmakers and Videomakers, together with Simone Tripodi, Elisabetta Tonni and Enrico Farro. In May 2016, I started working full time with the live broadcasting agency EuropaLive as a TV operator and as a video-journalist. The agency has international coverage, deals with news and politics and has subscribers of the calibre of Sky, Rai, and the Italian newspaper “Corriere della Sera”. In 2017 I stopped collaborating in full time and I started freelancing. From then on, I have collaborated with the press agency “9 colonne” for The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Poste Italiane and La Gazzetta dello Sport; with La7 for the television show "L’aria che tira"; with Euronews for Dazn Italia contents and live broadcasts; I published hard-copy photos on “Internazionale” and on the Norwegian daily newspaper “Klassekampenas”; I participated in the training and exchange project organized by the CISS in Gaza "Boxe contro l’assedio"; I collaborated with the Order of Architects and with Francati hospital for live surgery shooting; I made a fashion photoshoot for the Heartbreak Management agency; I thought a basic video- journalism course at Policromi and carried out a 3 months training course on how to use pictures in your storytelling within the high school Liceo Einaudi in Rome; I collaborated with European Alternative for which I have worked on a documentary about Brexit in London with Valerio Nicolosi and have participated as a jury in the photo contest of Enel Energia's monthly magazine. daniele.napo@gmail.com Mobile +39 3483368049
